Abstract
In the early 1990s only a handful of such papers were published yearly, while in more recent years this number has increased to over three thousand papers/year. In addition, more and more methodological papers appear each year, and the field has become fertile ground for the development and application of cutting-edge statistical methods. Researchers entering the field of MRI methods development come from diverse backgrounds: statistics, computer science, engineering, mathematical psychology, mathematics, and physics. The rapid pace of development, as well as the interdisciplinary nature of the diverse fields that use fMRI data, presents an enormous challenge to researchers. The ability to move the field forward requires strong collaborative
